I, Fred Bridgland, am a veteran foreign correspondent and the winner of a number of journalism awards. I have reported on wars in India, Pakistan, the Middle East and Africa for various news organisations and have made television documentaries on events in South Africa and Angola that have been screened throughout Europe, America and Japan. In 1975 my discovery of South Africa’s secret US-engineered invasion of Angola uncovered the CIA’s involvement in one of Africa’s longest wars, and was a world scoop.

After nearly 20 years in southern Africa, I recently returned to Britain to concentrate mainly on the writing of books. My latest, published in March 2011, tells the remarkable life story of Britain’s pioneering Green Party parliamentarian. A précis of the book, titled “Dear Mr Harper – Britain’s First Green Parliamentarian”, and reviews can be found elsewhere on this site.

Writing books now takes up most of my time. However, I continue to write articles for newspapers and magazines.
